Introduction to Biostatistics for Oncology Researchers
In July 2006, the bi-annual Introduction to Biostatistics for Oncology Researchers seminar series was held and will be held again the summer of 2008. This series includes four, two hour seminars on different topics related to biostatistics. This seminar series is currently required for all Hematology/Oncology and Radiation Oncology fellows at the institution.

Biostatistics for the Non-Statistician
The Center jointly sponsors along with the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health an annual CME and CNE program entitled “Biostatistics for the Non-statistician” and is designed for physicians, nurses, and population-based researchers.

Overview
This continuing education offering familiarizes attendees with statistical terminology and concepts and the role statistics play in medicine and medical research. A variety of topics are offered to accommodate a range of learners, from statistical novices to those who have taken multiple statistical courses. The faculty and staff of the Center for Biostatistics and Advanced Informatics and the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health has expertise in experimental and clinical trial design, linear models, time series and longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, probability, categorical data analysis, growth curve and structural equation modeling, and cDNA Microarray analysis. The faculty and staff also have extensive experience in developing databases for surveys, clinical trials, epidemiologic studies and basic science research, Web pages, as well as data entry support for research projects.
